The ‘Squaredance’ collection draws inspiration from the movie “Crossing the bridge: the sound of Istanbul” presented at the Cannes film festival in 2005 and depicting the cultural life and thriving music scene of the city. Using the square as the basic element that repeats and spreads, the ‘Squaredance’ motifs bridge gaps between tradition and modernity, revealing disruptions and contrasts, similar to that in the movie. As Istanbul lies on the Bosphorus river, it was only logical to add a “fluid“ element to the design; a watercolour touch in the background which makes the pattern seem to be floating.
