Nudo White Ochre Grey

NUDO is hand-woven with pure new wool according to traditional Colombian crafts, and produced in Cajicá, a town north of Bogotá at over 2500m above sea-level. Cajicá is known for its wool processing techniques. There, artisans use vertical looms and complex, time-consuming manual techniques to craft these rugs.

Designed by Sebastian Herkner, NUDO is a line of deep-pile rugs inspired by tribal masks on display in the Bogotá’s Gold Museum. With a colour-blocking design reminiscent of 1970s aesthetics, NUDO is available in 6 colourways in small and large sizes.

About the designer

Sebastian Herkner

Award-winning German designer Sebastian Herkner studied product design at the HfG Offenbach Am Main (Offenbach’s University of Art and Design) where his focus was already on designing objects and furniture. Herkner’s work often merges various cultural contexts, combining new technologies with traditional craftsmanship in order to highlight the multifaceted beauty of materials and draw renewed attention to small details.

Alongside Ames’ Managing Director, Ana Maria Calderòn Kayser, Sebastian travelled through Colombia in 2015 exploring the local landscape, communities, and historic landmarks. With a deepened understanding of the country’s people and background he created several rug designs, collaborating with local weaving workshops to produce the rugs in the land which inspired them.
