Moroccan Tiflet Kilim 2
Vintage Moroccan Tiflet kilims, otherwise known as ‘Hanbel’, were traditionally used by the Taznakht tribes of the Middle Atlas Mountains as blankets or for decorative purposes. Tiflet kilims are characterised by their finely embroidery-style patterns which are intricately woven in alternating stripes and wide border details. The symbols used to create the geometric patterns have real meaning behind them; often related to fertility, spirituality and protection.
As these rugs are in vintage condition, the colours vary between subtle, faded hues and rich tones of red, purple and orange.
