Hand crafted in the Bijar province of northern Iran, the Mani collection by Edelgrund draws on a complex weaving technique that was originally used to make hard-wearing saddle bags. Thicker than typical kilims, the flat-woven rugs are hand-woven on narrow horizontal looms with 100% hand-spun, double twisted yarn and dyed with local vegetable dyes. The Mani collection is double sided, with each side representing the same simple design. The combination of traditional craftsmanship with fresh new colours and finishing techniques ensures these timeless carpets are of the highest quality.

About the brand

Edelgrund

Founded in 2013 by a collective of Iranian rug makers and designers, Edelgrund merges traditional Persian craftsmanship with an expressive and modern interpretation. With over three generations in rug making, Edelgrund’s unique creations are strongly anchored in Persian culture.

From green mountain formations to barren salt deserts; as varied as Iran which stretches across different climatic zones, so is the richness of the traditional knotting and weaving techniques that are found in Edelgrund’s collections.

Their colourful designs creatively combine colours, patterns and linear elements into complex compositions that blend perfectly to create unique, timeless floor coverings. Monochrome areas alternate with expressive contrasts and delicate colour gradients which are inspired by nature. “Our rugs are an expression of the authenticity of the region where they are made and a passion for the craft.” says Maryam Ebrahimi, Managing Director of Edelgrund.
